What your say about X5 New Inventory System & Intelligence Puzzle

Date 04 Jul, 2009 | Category X5 System Update, Bug and Maintenance

Hello X5 members

We want to take this quick opportunity to have a quick poll of what do you think of current X5 inventory with with 5 min interval that will start by monday.

This is including X5 Youtube. We want to give X5 members in the long run to run all listing with minimum of X5 Video. We have to admit we are not best script writer or copy writer. Due to this we want to make X5 standard listings with minimum of X5 video. Do you think this is at least good enough, sufficient enough, clear enough?

We also want to inform we have a new item range called "Intelligence Puzzle". This is not just normal puzzle. It takes more than skill brain to break the secret. X5 put this on $5 postage due to popular demand on this category.

We only have a limited stock and up to maximum 80 different puzzle.

We would like you to take a moment to test our NEW ITEM page with a minimum of item description but with at least ONE Video on board.

Do you think X5 Video is sufficient enough? If not, what else we can do?

We are welcoming and excited for the new X5 inventory and X5 Youtube with X5 comment system.

re the Intelligence Puzzle - the wine drum: I like the puzzle James and put the first bids on it, so I'm currently winning! (don't expect that to last tho...) The description is fine. I would still like to see pictures of each puzzle listed. I think you only need to show someone solving a puzzle once ie just for this puzzle, but include this same video on each listing to give members an idea of what is required to solve them. A specific video for each puzzle would also be nice, but only like the 3rd one you show; this gives an idea of the size by showing someone's (yours James?) hand holding it. A bit longer than 11seconds tho...maybe about 20secs???

2. Eric (04 Jul, 2009 - 13:53)

HEY X5 MEMBERS: if you are having trouble seeing X5 videos, check to see if your browser has a Popup Blocker that is blocking them!!!

3. Dennis (04 Jul, 2009 - 13:54)

YOU MIGHT LOSE CUSTOMERS, WE WILL ALL BE BUSY TRYING TO SOLVE THE PUZZLES AND NOT ON X5 BIDDING. LOL THE NEW IDEAS KEEP US INTERESTED.

4. Adelle (04 Jul, 2009 - 14:19)

Eric, I don't have Popup Blocker on and I still can't play any videos. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks

5. Adelle (04 Jul, 2009 - 14:25)

I think 5min intervals should work well. Just give it a try and see what happens. Can you get rid of clock going back 1, 2 then MAX?

6. Adelle (04 Jul, 2009 - 14:28)

I still cant view video footage. I can on other websites (youtube etc). I definately think you should still have at least a brief written description. thanks

7. Eric (04 Jul, 2009 - 14:43)

Hi Adelle - I couldn't view videos at all in IE so I changed over to Firefox and now I see them easily. Don't know why IE won't show them - one for the X5 techos I guess!

8. Ngoc (04 Jul, 2009 - 15:14)

Thanks-you X5 for letting us know about the new intelligence puzzle item now up for auction. Another great addition to the list. I agree with Dennis that all these new ideas and items will keep members interested and always excited to visit the site. Keep up the great work.

9. Ngoc (04 Jul, 2009 - 15:17)

Hi Adelle, I noticed I can't view X5 Youtube videos also when using my IE, but when I log on using Firefox I have no problems. Maybe you should try that if you haven't already done. I have also noticed that with IE I'm unable to post comments in the blog but again have no problem when using FIREFOX. Hope this helps.

10. belinda (04 Jul, 2009 - 15:19)

i havnt been able to play any videos either i use firefox

11. Linda (04 Jul, 2009 - 15:20)

I think you should film the videos on a tripod stand and adjust the item accordingly. Its not always clear when the camera is moving so much. Also I don't think a lot of items would need video if they come with clear diagrams or instructions. 60 to 90 seconds is plenty enough.

12. Ngoc (04 Jul, 2009 - 15:21)

I think how X5 have the item descriptions at the moment is a good idea. Having a short video showing how the item works and then giving members the chance to post their own comments on items is a good way for others to know more about the product. The only thing now is for more members to comment on items.

13. Ngoc (04 Jul, 2009 - 15:31)

I have a question about the X5 Comments. I'm guessing the thumbs up and down are for other members to rate what they think of the comments but I tried clicking on one of them and nothing happened. What are they to do and how does the thumbs work?

14. Lisa (04 Jul, 2009 - 16:12)

I think that the video was good but I don't think that I would be able to solve the puzzle if the lady on the video was struggling. LOL

15. Les (04 Jul, 2009 - 16:12)

I'm lost! How do you unravel the cask? - How do you get the video's of items? How does one discover if they have a pop-up blocker? So if I open in Firefox things may be better? I can't give constructive comments until someone with tech knowledge puts me on the right track. 5 minute intervals should be OK but remember the e.t.'s.

16. Dennis (04 Jul, 2009 - 16:37)

SURELY THE PUZZLE WOULD COME WITH INSTRUCTIONS JUST LIKE THE RUBIX CUBE DID, BUT THEN IF YOU THINK THE PUZZLES WILL BE TOO HARD, DON'T BID ON THEM. JUST SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO BID ON AND I'M SURE X5 WILL KEEP FINDING NEW AND DIFFERENT THINGS FOR US

17. Linda (04 Jul, 2009 - 17:04)

The 5 minute interval is a good idea but you would need to remove et, as it could still run into near close finishing times for the auctions. Why not slot in 2 or 3 free auctions in between the paid ones to minimize this risk?

18. Brett (04 Jul, 2009 - 17:37)

I'm using IE, and don't see any videos that view. So seems to be a general problem with IE for most users. Regarding the 5 minute intervals between auctions, would still like to see more items for auction, so if this slows the whole process down in terms of waiting for an auction to finish, then i'm against it. You guys have heaps of auctions each day, so if they are now all spaced 5 minutes apart, less is available to bid on each day, right?

19. Benn (04 Jul, 2009 - 17:39)

Great idea Linda. I'd like the et to be removed, if x5 are going to have 5 minute spacing between auctions.

20. Dennis (04 Jul, 2009 - 17:52)

JUST HAD ANOTHER LOOK AT PUZZLE. THE VIDEO SEEMS ENOUGH BUT IS THAT THE ONLY PUZZLE FOR NOW? IF THERE IS 80 I WAS EXPECTING TO SEE A FEW MORE. I MUST HAVE MISSED SOMETHING ABOUT 5 MINUTE INTERVAL BECAUSE DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT IT IS ABOUT??? LINDA HAS MADE THE ONLY COMMENT SO MAYBE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE NOT KNOWING WHAT IT IS.

21. Dennis (04 Jul, 2009 - 20:31)

NOT THE RIGHT COMMENT FOR THIS FORUM BUT WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK OF THE EXTRA TIME FUNCTION? I PERSONALLY DON'T LIKE IT, THE AUCTION HAS ITS SET TIME AND THAT SHOULD BE IT.

22. Tania (04 Jul, 2009 - 21:19)

Thanks for the update. Good idea to leave item descriptions at a minimal for members to be able to have a chance to input their comments and their own descriptions of the product.

23. Tania (04 Jul, 2009 - 21:23)

I think with minimal item descriptions and comments from members would be fine as long as each item has at least one video attached. I have noticed not all items have X5 Youtube and they also don't have any description. In this case it's hard for members to know anything about the item if no one has made any comments yet.

24. Tania (04 Jul, 2009 - 21:27)

I also have had problems with viewing the youtube videos and being able to post comments on the blog when using IE. I remember reading in a pass blog a member commenting about the firefox so I tried it and haven't had any dramas. I do here and there log on using IE but still encounter the same problem so now stick to FIREFOX. Love the ideas of the new item range, hope I win one. Keep up the great work X5

25. Tania (04 Jul, 2009 - 21:29)

I agree that if X5 is going to start 5mins intervals then maybe should consider removing the ET.

26. Joe (04 Jul, 2009 - 21:37)

I think that with having the X5 Comments now that having minimum item description is best. That way members can be the ones that give the descriptions. That was the plan wasn't it. And i guess if the items have at least one video then that should be enough. I agree with Ngoc that all is needed now is for more members to start leaving comments.

27. Joe (04 Jul, 2009 - 21:39)

Great new item the intelligence puzzles are. Goes to show how much X5 is growing bigger and better with the wide selection of new items to bid on. Keep up the great work guys and keep the new items coming.

28. Joe (04 Jul, 2009 - 21:43)

Thanks for all the update. X5 Inventory is looking good and is working for me. I believe having items with 5 minute intervals would be a great idea. That way when bidding on one item you don't miss out on another. I do also wonder how it is going to work together with the ET. Maybe give it a go and see how it all pans out.

29. Dennis (04 Jul, 2009 - 21:50)

Going by Bretts comment I am assuming that the 5 minute interval means that all auctions will be 5 minutes apart. Surely this will restrict the number of auctions each day and then as I commented before with the 3 lots of 5 minute extra time (that I don't like) will then through the 5 minute interval out of wack.We don't bid on all auctions so don't need the 5 minute interval and there is usually more of each item up for auction so you can just bid on another one if it coincides with another auction you are bidding on or as X5 suggests for faster bidding open up more windows.

30. lddld (04 Jul, 2009 - 22:50)

i think the 5 min thin is a bad idea, ET should be got rid of or atleast only allow people who have previosly bid to continue to bid on the item. the inventory is great please keep bring the great stuff thanks x5

31. Dennis (05 Jul, 2009 - 00:45)

I love this comment section, you get to see what everyone else is thinking and the majority of us all think the same way which must be helpful for X5 with not many conflicting ideas. Keep up the good work and thanks for letting us have input into how the site works. All of the bugs are slowly being fixed and hopefully most X5ers use the report a bug link at the bottom of the page to report bugs, then they can be fixed so we can enjoy the X5 experience even more.

32. Robyn (05 Jul, 2009 - 09:11)

Please get rid of ET! It is confusing and frustrating, and even your server system seems to struggle with it at times. Everywhere else an auction ends at the fall of the hammer. These problems will probably amplify with global interest. I havent tried the video yet, but am pleased to see X5 addressing description issues, although I think greater care in the written detail is necessary too.

33. PD (05 Jul, 2009 - 10:53)

Anyone using the net should dump IE and use Firefox - its functionality works so much better - as evidenced here.

34. Melinda (05 Jul, 2009 - 16:37)

I think the videos for each item (as they become possible) is a great idea and help for us to know what we are bidding on and this will be further enhanced by X5 usesrs comments. The one on the intelligence puzzle is fine -- but there were three 'video' indicators -- I could only get the first one to load, and I use Firefox. I too would be happy to not have ET -- or at least only 1 lot of 5 minutes, but even that should not be needed. It seems now many people wait until the last minute (literally) to bid and they could do that whenever the last minute is! I am enjoying the new inventory items that I keep finding and the 'Intelligence' puzzles will have us all stressed out trying to solve them -- but enjoying it as well!

35. Xot (08 Jul, 2009 - 16:24)

Thanks X5 for the update. I see it a good idea having minimal item descriptions, this way members are able to have a chance to add their comments and their own descriptions of the product without repeating anything X5 has already explained.

36. Xot (08 Jul, 2009 - 16:28)

I do think with less item descriptions and more comments from members is all a item needs as long as every item has one video attached. Not all items have video description, and when they also don't have any item description it's hard for members to know anything about the item if members haven't added any comments yet.

37. Xot (08 Jul, 2009 - 16:30)

The intelligence puzzles are an excellent new item. Keep up the great work guys and keep the new items coming. X5 keeps getting better and better.
